A key new feature in our upcoming Nlyte 8.1 release is the much-anticipated Nlyte Energy Optimizer-Nlyte Alarm Workflow. This new feature enables Nlyte customers to include the handling and tracking of data center alarms in their Nlyte Workflow processes.
Why is this powerful?
Alarms configured to trigger in Nlyte Energy Optimizer, based on the operational status of facility infrastructure and data center conditions, can now be incorporated into start-to-finish alarm workflow processes. In addition, this all can be managed in Nlyte Workflow and extended into integrated IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions. This is a DCIM game changer because the integration is seamless and constitutes an “industry-first” for this category of data center management software.
How does it work?
Through the Nlyte Energy Optimizer Web services API, each new alarm kicks off an Nlyte Workflow process request. This request is then updated as the alarms are acknowledged, returned to normal and deactivated within Nlyte Energy Optimizer or the Nlyte Alarms module (as summarized in the following image).
In cases where a device is associated with one or more assets, the alarm message sent to Nlyte Workflow includes the entire list of related asset IDs. This enables users to understand the total set of assets affected by a device’s alarm conditions.
Don’t be alarmed, you have options
Two off-the-shelf Nlyte Workflow processes are available that can be used as-is or enhanced to meet specific alarm management procedures across IT and Facilities.
This is not a brute-force deployment. The API is included with Nlyte Energy Optimizer and is easily configured during the installation or upgrade process to provide alarm messages to Nlyte Workflow. Through simple configuration and setup, alarm management and escalation can be quickly implemented in a new or existing Nlyte Workflow solution.
In short, the new Nlyte Energy Optimizer-Nlyte Alarm Workflow combines the best of Nlyte Energy Optimizer (formerly FieldView) and Nlyte (workflow) to provide the most flexible, user-defined DCIM workflow to the market.
